It is the week right before Easter Sunday. It starts with Palm Sunday and ends with Holy Saturday. Many Christians celebrate Holy Week to commemorate the final days of Jesus. In this special time we invite you to pray together the prayer that Jesus taught us. In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name; Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done On earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen. You can also pray with the song. |

During the first week of classes the students were learning our new class routines in English! Every day, students participate in a routine that allows them to practice their English and start class in an engaging, organized way.
The steps to the routine are:
After the opening routine, we have been discussing the class rules, practicing feelings vocabulary, and working on setting up our English notebooks.
The steps to the routine are:
- Silent reading
- Students and teacher greet one another with "good morning!" or "good afternoon!"
- Students ask one another how they are feeling and tell how their day is going
- Students tell what the date is and what the weather is like
- Students lead prayer, starting with the sign of the cross, then sharing special intentions and singing a song
- Students discuss the objective for the day
- Students review the class agenda

HOW DO YOU FEEL TODAY?
Every day in English class, we do a check-in to talk about our feelings as a part of the routine. Recently, we've also been learning different vocabulary to talk about how we feel! Here are the words we have learned:
happy
great
awesome
fantastic
wonderful
terrific
very well

hungry

cold
sleepy
tired
sick
excited

worried
nervous

It is important to talk about how we feel so that we can relate to one another and be mindful of our own emotions! We will be working with this vocabulary all year as a part of our routine and in our journals and reading discussions.

DAILY ROUTINE PROJECT
For the following weeks we are going to work on our Daily Routine Project. This project has a written component (a poster) and an oral component (a presentation) where students will share sentences about the activities they do throughout the day.
Students will need to form sentences that tell the part of the day, the activities they do at that time, and how often they do those activities. For example:
In the morning, I always wake up and take a shower.
We want you to practice the vocabulary for this project, it can be found in the document below. It includes the activities, parts of the day, and adverbs of frequency (always, sometimes, and never).
