During the first week of classes the students were learning our new class routines in English! Every day, students participate in a routine that allows them to practice their English and start class in an engaging, organized way.
The steps to the routine are:
After the opening routine, we have been discussing the class rules, practicing feelings vocabulary, and working on setting up our English notebooks.
HOW DO YOU FEEL TODAY?
Every day in English class, we do a check-in to talk about our feelings as a part of the routine. Recently, we've also been learning different vocabulary to talk about how we feel! Here are the words we have learned:
It is important to talk about how we feel so that we can relate to one another and be mindful of our own emotions! We will be working with this vocabulary all year as a part of our routine and in our journals and reading discussions.
How are you feeling today? :)
For the following weeks we are going to work on our Daily Routine Project. This project has a written component (a poster) and an oral component (a presentation) where students will share sentences about the activities they do throughout the day.
Students will need to form sentences that tell the part of the day, the activities they do at that time, and how often they do those activities. For example:
In the morning, I always wake up and take a shower.
We want you to practice the vocabulary for this project, it can be found in the document below. It includes the activities, parts of the day, and adverbs of frequency (always, sometimes, and never).
